NEW ARRIVAL for 2025
Hibiscus moscheutos
Hibiscus moscheutos, better known as Swamp Rose Mallow or Rose Mallow, is a stunning cold-hardy perennial wetland plant that grows in large colonies. Its beautiful hirsute deltoidal leaves can have up to three lobes. The flowers come in varying shades of white, pink, or rose with a crimson base and bloom late summer.
It is a swamp plant that is extremely salt tolerant. Native to the southeastern United States, from Texas to the Atlantic states, it extends northward to southern Ontario. The leaves and roots contain mucilage that is demulcent and emollient, making it ideal for treating dysentery, lung ailments, and urinary ailments.
Swamp Rose Mallow is a popular garden plant that can be propagated by seed or by crown divisions during winter dormancy. It can be used to attract nectar-feeders and birds in bog gardens or other water features due to their attractive nature.
