This type of squash is famous among the people of the Southeast. Pink, banana-shaped fruit has a blue tip and weighs around 10 lbs.
Delicious, smooth orange flesh is perfect baked, fried and makes great pies; hard to find and quite beautiful.

WOW, we grew these this year, and one plant produced 10 of these delicious Candy Roasters. I roast them for a yummy fall soup, and I can them for all things pumpkin. It was such a fun crop to grow.
We were blown away at the length of these vines this year! We trellised the squash on a cattle panel arch and they grew to an unbelievable 20 feet in length! Four plants produced around 10-12 squash, weighing between 15-20 lbs. each. Guess they liked the rabbit and chicken fertilizer! Will definitely be planting again next year!
I thought i had sown a blue hubbard… it was a 5 lbs candy roaster instead! I made pumpkin soup with it and i am telling you now, that i do not regret it! It was smooth as silk, and very flavorful. It is a bit more sensitive to melon worms for me than blue hubbard.
