Montana Morado Maize seeds are so purple they have been described as "the color of midnight."
Morado is Spanish for dark purple, and the popular South American drink chicha morada comes from an ancient Peruvian corn.
This Montana Morado Maize is descended entirely from North American corns. Like Painted Mountain, it matures fast in Montana’s short season and stressful conditions. Grows similarly to Painted Mountain, though Morado is a little larger.
Loosely translated, the name "Montana Morado Maize" means "purple corn from Montana." Ancient morado corn originated in Peru.
