Caraway

Tip:
Caraway grows best in full sun, in a well-drained soil which is high in organic matter with a pH of 6.0 to 7.5. Seed can be sown in spring or early autumn. Caraway should always be direct seeded as seedlings do not transplant well.

Cilantro

Tip:
Cilantro growing in soil that reaches 75F will bolt and go to seed. This means that the ideal cilantro growing conditions are cool but sunny.
Dill - Vierling

Deep, blue-green color and finely cut foliage. A good late flower strain for commercial leaf production; it is also used as a cut flower, as it produces attractive, light greenish flowers. Black swallowtail butterfly larvae feast on Dill, so it’s an essential plant in a butterfly garden.

Tip:
Dill enjoys full sun, and flourishes in average to fertile soil with good drainage. It grows best with a regular splash of water, but will tolerate periods of drought.

A beautiful purple wild flower and well known medicinal herb, with numerous uses.  Echinacea is not only useful, it's also a beautiful addition to your perennial beds and borders, and is hardy even in very cold climates.

Tip:
Echinacea, als0 known as coneflowers, enjoy a sunny location with fertile soil. If your soil isn't particularly fertile, work in a little compost and supplement with a good organic fertilizer.

German Chamomile

Chamomile has a very pleasant fragrance and was a popular strewing herb in medieval England. Graceful plants are 12–20" tall with endless masses of 1" Beautiful small flowers, makes a relaxing tea with a sweet fruity fragrance.

A large plant.  Mugwort has a fragrance much like sage, some say mixed with a little mint.  Also a popular woman's medicinal herb.

Tip:
If you want this one in your garden and you don't want it to take over, it's important to have deep sound borders around it. It can grow up to 6 feet tall and the leaves can be up to 2 to 4 inches long. Once they start they will grow rapidly, and can be difficult to control.


Oregano

Russian.  Use fresh or dried.  A flavorful herb that is used to season salads, meats and other dishes; hardy plants grow to 40 inches.  Also Medicinal.

Tarragon prefers well-drained soil which is not too high in nutrients. It will do equally well in full sun or partial shade. Start the seeds off in pots around April time. Keep them indoors at room temperature. They are ready for

Thyme

Sow seeds indoors on surface of soil. Transplant outdoors after danger of frost has passed. After first year cut plants back each spring to renew them and keep them tidy. Plants prefer well-drained dry soil.

Yarrow

Grows 2 to 4 feet tall.  Beautiful when used as a dried flower. When young and tender, the fresh early spring leaves of Yarrow can be finely chopped and added to salads, soups, meat dishes, stir-fry and cooked beans. 
Also popular as an herb; used for colds, fevers, and for healing wounds.

Tip:
Plant in spring, spacing plants 1 to 2 feet apart, depending on the variety. Prepare the garden bed by using a garden fork or tiller to loosen the soil to a depth of 12 to 15 inches, then mix in a 2- to 4-inch layer of compost. Dig a hole twice the diameter of the pot the plant is in. Carefully remove the plant from its container and place it in the hole so the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface. Carefully fill in around the root ball and firm the soil gently. Water thoroughly.
